The recall covers some 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles.

During product testing in August, it was identified that it had "greater than expected variations in response to pinch detection".

As the automatic reversal systems requirements were not met by the vehicles' pinch detection and retraction performance, hence the recall.

Also, all the vehicles in production received the update starting Sep 13 in pre-delivery that meets the requirements.

In Thursday afternoon trading, Tesla shares were 3.5% down, possible due to the recall of vehicles.

However Tesla CEO ELon Musk didn't like it to be termed as "recall" and criticized the terminology.

"The terminology is outdated & inaccurate. This is a tiny over-the-air software update. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no injuries," he said.
